UCS Accreditation

Students who get involved with UCS Union will not only receive rewards like Guest List entry to our events or free lunches at Kai, our student bar and restaurant, but they also become eligible for the UCS Accreditation Award, jointly certified by UCS and UCS Union.

What is the Accreditation Award?

The Accreditation Award is an accolade given to students who perform task related to their time at University but not directly related to their course*.

The Award appears on a student’s Higher Education Achievement Record (HEAR) that forms part of your Degree Certificate when you graduate.

You will also be invited to the UCS Union Awards Ceremony to receive a certificate jointly awarded by the Provost of University Campus Suffolk and the President of UCS Union.

How can I get Accredited by UCS Union?

Anybody who gets involved with UCS Union is eligible for Accreditation, from Course Reps and Hall Reps to School Officers and Campus Officers.  To see what opportunities there are at UCS Union, click here.

Once elected or nominated, students are asked to fulfil a number of duties relative to their role. These can include:
•    Attending relevant meetings (such as Union Council, Halls Rep Forums or University meetings like Course Committees or as part of the Student Experience Committee)
•    Completing relevant online surveys issued by the UCS Union Exec Committee
•    Speaking, listening and updating students
•    Attending training for the relevant role

In order to prove their eligibility for Accreditation, students are asked to track their own activity in their own Accreditation Passport. At the end of the year, the passport is handed to UCS Union’s Democracy and Representation Co-ordinator to check everything over. You can download a copy of the passport below.
