Get Involved!

Getting involved with the Union could mean being the person that changes the lives of the students around you! UCS Union is made up of students that help make us the true representative of UCS students and to make the right changes that really matter to us all.

All our Student Reps and Officers are chosen by the students for the students. Getting involved is a brilliant way to build up those extra skills that help make you more employable.

Not only that, UCS and UCS Union jointly accredits and certifies the Student Reps and Officers and reward them at the UCS Union Award ceremony. They also get exclusive discounts and vouchers at our Union run events at Kai, Theta and the Campus Shop.

There are number of ways you could get involved. Click on the links below for more information on the roles available.

Vote!
The simplest way to have your say and get involved with UCS Union is to vote in the Union run elections. Whether it’s for the Course Rep for your course, the Halls Rep in your accommodation or for the President and Vice President of the Union, casting your vote is vital! Voting couldn’t be easier. To find out more about the elections, click on the link above.

Course Rep

Course Reps tell UCS Union the issues students are having with their education and help us come up with the best solutions.

Hall Rep

Represent your house mates in meetings with the university, your landlord and the local community to ensure you and your housemates are being properly considered.

School Officer

School Officers meet with the UCS Heads of Schools to pass on the issues raised by the Course Reps. They also sit on the UCS Union Executive Board, helping make decisions on how the Union is governed.

Campus Officers

Campus Officers represent our students across the UCS Campus Network in Bury St Edmunds, Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth and Otley by meeting the Heads of Higher Education, attending Student Voice Forums and sitting on the UCS Union Exec.

Student Trustee

Student Trustees sit on the UCS Union Trustee Board and play a huge part in ensuring that UCS Union are meeting the objectives that they have set themselves, and meeting the needs of their members.

Accreditation

Students who offer their time to getting involved with the union receive an Accreditation Award from both UCS Union and University Campus Suffolk. This Accreditation Award is added to your Higher Education Achievement Record (HEAR) on your degree certificate when you graduate!
