It's always parking!

This week has been a little different to the past couple. I have begun to prepare lots of little bits of work as orientation and freshers' week stuff which will be completed over August (around all the training that I'll be attending) in time for September.
 
Besides that, the things I've been doing this week which will have a more immediate effect is car parking. As some of you may be aware, the main UCS-SNC shared car park off Long Street (roundabout) is being taken over by UCS. Although Suffolk New College students and staff will still be able to use it until December, UCS will staff and patrol it. Due to the fact that Campus North is getting a face lift and brought up to scratch, the car park also needs some changes, mainly to avoid queueing in the peak morning period. I've been involved in consultations for this project to ensure that the students' views are not being overlooked.
 
I've worked on several individual student cases this week, involving general advice, ALF appeals and other complaints. I can't go into the exact details of these due to the sensitive nature of their contents, but these cases are very important and is one of the main functions of my role. Should any of you have issues, don't hesitate to talk to us at the Union office.
 
Other than planning my next week (Steph and I will be attending an NUS training event Tuesday to Thursday), there isn’t much left to say!
