The Vice President (Rights & Activities) stands up for your rights as a student on everything from student accommodation and housing to ensuring there are plenty of student activities on campus. The Vice-President leads on campaigns to improve the welfare and support services at UCS.
The Vice President regularly meets the Provost and Deputy Provosts of the University and also the local MP to discuss welfare related issues that affect the students of UCS.
The Vice President sits on a number of boards and committees at UCS including:
• Student Experience Committee
• Equality and Diversity Committee
• Alumni Working Group
• Sports Committee and the Sports Working Group
• Sustainability Sub Committee
• Residents Association
The Vice President is a member of the UCS Union Trustee Board and the UCS Union Executive Committee, helping to make both strategic and operational decisions on how UCS Union is governed and how it reacts to the demands of students.
The Vice President is also a member of the Board of Directors for Suffolk Union Services Limited, the union’s commercial arm that oversees the running of Kai, Theta and the Campus Shop.
The Vice President serves for a 1 year term and can serve for a maximum of two years. The Vice President is elected in a campus wide elected which all UCS students are invited to vote in.
